基于中子不带电、能量低、有磁矩、穿透性强等特点,中子衍射仪具有常规探测技术(XRD、电子衍射等)不具备的优势,是凝聚态物理、材料科学等研究领域的尖端探测设备。我课题组依托中国原子能科学研究院国家大科学装置中国先进研究堆(CARR)与美国密苏里大学和中国原子能科学研究院共同建设了北京大学高强度粉末中子衍射仪(PKU-HIPD)。
PKU-HIPD最佳分辨率为千分之二。双聚焦中子单色器和位置灵敏探测器的使用大大提高了中子利用率。相比于常规的中子衍射仪,北京大学高强度中子衍射仪具有在满足较高分辨水平的条件下将探测效率数倍提高的优势,填补了我国高强度谱仪的空白。这个项目将大大推动我国相关基础科学研究和工业技术应用的发展,同时开创了我国高等院校和科研机构共同建设国家大科学工程平台的先例,为充分利用国家大科学装置开展科学研究提供了良好的基础。
中国先进研究堆(CARR)由中国原子能科学研究院自主研发、设计和建造,是一座高性能、多用途、安全可靠的核反应堆装置,并配套相关实验终端,可开展核物理与核化学等基础科学和相关应用研究。反应堆功率为60MW,重水反射层最高未扰热中子注量率达8×1014n/cm2•s,在同类中子束流研究堆中其主要技术指标位居于亚洲第一,世界前列。
